Two area people have been arrested in connection with a series of burglaries in Middletown dating back to Dec. 24.
Police arrested Police officers arrested Lisa Bostrom, 54, and Garry Doherty, 61, both of Long Branch, on Feb. 5 and charged them with numerous counts of burglary, conspiracy, theft, criminal mischief and other related charges. The two were also found to be responsible for burglaries in Holmdel, a released statement from Middletown police said.
The majority of the burglary victims were members of the Beacon Hill Country Club, Middletown.
The arrests were precipitated with a call to police regarding a suspicious person. At 8:45p.m., officers responded to a call of a male subject who approached a residence inquiring about a lost dog.
Officers learned that the resident was a member of the country club and began a thorough canvas of the area. Approximately one hour later, officers observed and stopped a suspicious vehicle that matched the description of one used in the burglaries. Bostrom and Dougherty were in the car, arrested and transported to police headquarters.
Further investigation revealed that Bostrom was a former employee of the country club. Authorities reported that Bostrom used her recollection of the membership to help her and Doherty locate and target the members’ homes.
Both were processed and released on summonses.
The investigation is still ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective First Class Sullivan at 732-615-2120.
