Fair Havenite Joseph G. Gallagher, who was known for his zest for life and love of family, friends and community, passed away on July 29 from injuries sustained in a car accident. He was 54.
Friends have spread the word that Joe’s memorial, slated for 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4 at Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven, will be one filled with bright color and smiles as an ode to his personality.
“Joe Gallagher was always one of the best dressed guys in the room. For the mass on Saturday friends and family are planning to dress festively to honor his memory and his love of fashion. So if you are attending the mass this Saturday August 4, at 10:30am, Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven, you are encouraged to wear your snazziest sports coat, some white suede bucks, or similarly fashion forward footwear, and bright and happy colors in general,” Joe’s friend Joanne Mitchell Formisano announced in a Facebook post that was followed by a flood of messages. “I’m sure Joe would rather this day look more like the Kentucky Derby than a funeral mass, so let’s do him proud.”
In lieu of flowers, Joe’s family has asked that people please consider a donation to one of Joe’s favorite charities, Covenant House.
