Rumson resident Thomas G. McBrady passed away Thursday, May 12. He was 84.

Born and raised in Chicago, IL to Kenneth and Kathleen McBrady, Tom was one of three children. A graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology, he earned his master’s degree in engineering. Tom married his high school sweetheart, Mary Therese (nee: Honan) in 1959.
He began his career at Best Foods in Chicago, then transferred to New Jersey and worked in Englewood Cliffs before embarking on the next chapter of his career with Nabisco Brands in East Hanover, where he worked for 20 years and became Executive Vice President of Operations Worldwide, retiring in 2000.
He and Mary Therese settled and raised their family in Ridgewood. After his retirement, they settled in Rumson, also spending time at their home in Naples, Florida. Tom and Mary Therese also cherished and maintained their many friendships in Chicago.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Mary Therese, who has been by his side since they were 16 years old. Loving father of Thomas McBrady and wife Diane, Terrence McBrady and wife Alison and Eileen Elsas and husband Scott. Cherished grandfather of Kiely, Rory, Kelly, Gregory and Reed. Caring brother of the late Ken McBrady and Bill McBrady.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, May 19 at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, 30 Ward Avenue in Rumson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom’s memory to his favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
