“‘Tis I’ll be here in sunshine or in shadow …” Danny Boy
Friends called them The Grady Bunch: A passel of six affable Rumson- and Fair Haven-raised kids, all graduates of Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School. The bunch was headed by patriarch Daniel “Dan” Richard Grady.
Surrounded by his children, the longtime former Rumson and Fair Haven dad passed away on March 9 at his Florida home. He was 86.
The popular dad was laid to rest today, April 14, what would have been his 87th birthday.
He left behind five of his children, all inheriting his creativity, sense of adventure and lust for life that they’ve been known to share generously with friends.
Dan would gladly sing or write about his bon vivant zest and top it all with a joke or a limerick whenever he got the chance, his family will tell you.
More about Dan Grady …
A graduate of St. Ignatius High School, Cleveland, OH, and Xavier University, Cincinnati, Dan was president of DRG International, a consulting firm in New Jersey and Florida providing claims accounting assistance to risk managers, agents and brokers. He was involved in insurance-related accounting, particularly the analysis, auditing and preparation of property and business interruption claims, for more than 45 years.
His experience included thousands of claims in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, Europe, Central America, South America, The Middle East and the Orient.
“In his personal travels, the place he loved best was Ireland, his ancestral home, which he visited a number of times, once taking his entire family there on vacation.”
