Longtime Fair Haven resident Marie Roche Quigley passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 8. She was 91.
Marie was born in Queens, New York on April 7, 1934 to Thomas and Clare Roche (Conerty). Her father was a lawyer and her mother a schoolteacher. She married Richard F. Quigley, Jr. in 1958 and together they raised six children: Kevin, Patricia, Brian, Kieran, Brendan and Terence. After the marriage ended in divorce, Marie went back to school and became a registered nurse. She raised her family in Lindenhurst, on Long Island, and worked for many years at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore.

“Marie retired to the Jersey Shore in 1997 and lived in Fair Haven, relocating to Warwick Gardens in Red Bank for a period of time until she moved back to Fair Haven in 2022. She enjoyed visits from her children and grandchildren, taking care of her two cats (Lindy and Jersey), and a good cup of tea. She also enjoyed her part-time job driving special needs children to school with the Murphy Bus Company. A parishioner of Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven, Marie found strength in her strong Catholic faith throughout her life.”
