In Memoriam: Former Little Silver Fire Dept. Chief, Life Member, Navy Vet, RBR Grad, Chris ‘Bam Bam’ Beronio, 54

Longtime Little Silver resident and former fire department chief, Christopher “Bam Bam” Beronio passed away Jan. 3. He was 54.

“Christopher loved spending time with his friends with a good cigar and Jack and ginger in hand. He was always there for anyone in need. He was a very giving man with a genuine heart of gold. Chris was a very loving husband to his wife Sue and loved her with his entire heart. The two of them would spend free time volunteering with various animal rescue groups helping in any way. Chris loved participating in field day competitions, bowling and softball teams. Christopher will be deeply missed by his loved ones, friends and colleagues. His memory will be cherished for his unwavering dedication to his family, service to his country and his community. May he rest in peace.”

After graduating from Red Bank Regional High School, Chris joined the Navy, serving as a Petty Officer 3rd Class during Operation Desert Storm and Operation Desert Shield. He then studied at Chubb Institute where he earned his Technical Support Experience diploma.

After his military service, Chris joined the Little Silver Fire Department. In 2007, he was elected chief; and, in 2017 he became a life member. In late 2000s he joined Shrewsbury Hose Company, where he continued to enjoy his passion as a volunteer firefighter.

A devoted husband, Chris is survived by: his wife, Sue, and “their many fur kidz;” his mother, Diana Beronio Macaluso; and his sister, Joan Beronio Muanez and her husband Juan.

He was predeceased by: his father, Walter Beronio; his nephew, Sean; nieces, Hanna, Kaitlyn, Isabella; and his god-daughter, Anna.

A visitation and firemen service was were held on Saturday, Jan. 6.
