Fair Haven-raised Michelle “Chelly” Rago passed away on April 1 at Monmouth Medical Center, where she was born on March 11, 1971. She was 55.

“She was a godmother to many and a ride-or-die best friend. Chelly gave endlessly of herself, instinctively placing others first, offering comfort, guidance, and kindness to anyone fortunate enough to cross her path.
“She was the proud owner of Rocky’s Barber Shop in Red Bank, with an incredible staff and loyal, loving customers.
“Chelly had a rare and beautiful gift for making people feel seen, valued, and deeply loved. Chelly loved football, the beach, cooking, nights out on the town with Glen (her love) and her close friends, with laughing, music and dancing! She just loved life! She was radiant not only in appearance but depth of her soul, with an infectious smile.
“Chelly, my beautiful little sister, you were taken too soon. We will be forever heartbroken. You were loved by so many — deeply missed, forever cherished and never forgotten. We love you, Chelly. The only comfort is you are now with your father, Sam, and brother, Sammy, hugging them tightly.”
Chelly leaves behind: her mother, Sylvia; sister, Marianna; niece, Sammi; nephew, RJ.; Glen, the love of her life for 19 years; her dog, Money, who she adored; her brother-in-law, Ronnie; and Sammi’s dad, Paul.
A graveside service is set for April 10 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery and Mausoleum, 100 Chapel Hill Rd., Middletown.
