
Longtime Fair Havenite, Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) graduate, photographer, musician and passionate preserver of local and family history, Edward “Ed” Lester Brett, passed away on July 20. He was 71. A memorial service is now set for Aug. 30.
Born on Dec. 1, 1954, Ed lived the majority of his life in his hometown of Fair Haven.

“A graduate of the RFH Class of ’73, Ed was an avid and professional photographer, drummer, and drum major. He was involved with the bagpipe world for over 25 years, spending time with both The Atlantic Watch and Allied Forces Foundation. Throughout his life he pursued many interests, from Boy Scouts and Sea Scouts to fishing, to reenacting with the SCA, earning many awards and accolades in his years of participation.

Ed was predeceased by: his parents, Lester John and Lois Esther England Brett.
He is survived by: his wife of 40 years, Margaret (Mikki) Dougherty Brett, of Fair Haven; daughters, Leslie (Jordan) Young, also of Fair Haven, Jennifer Brett, of Mechanicsburg, PA; granddaughters, Clare and Lily Young; and innumerable chosen family.
A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, Aug. 30, from noon to 3 p.m., with a family eulogy at 2:30, at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank, NJ 07701.
