From NJ State Police …
NJ State Police detectives are seeking the public’s assistance to determine the cause of a Friday fatal hit-and-run motor vehicle crash in Middletown on the Garden State Parkway.
The crash background …
On Friday, Feb. 14, at 5:58 p.m., a Honda Pilot was traveling southbound on the Garden State Parkway express lanes near milepost 112.8. While the vehicle was in motion, its front-seat passenger got out of the vehicle and was struck by multiple unknown vehicles that failed to stop at the scene.
As a result of the crash, that passenger, Jose Cerda-Estevez, 33, of Plainfield, was killed.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or the events prior to or following the crash is asked to contact Troop “D” Holmdel Station – Detective Bureau at 732-441-4500 ext. 7417. Anonymous tips are welcome.

Rumson Police Report: Assault at Restaurant, Attempted Vehicle Theft

Criminal Incident
- A Fair Haven Road resident reported on Jan. 23 that two masked people had attempted to gain entry to a vehicle in their driveway. S/O Pignataro took the report.
Arrest
- Police on Jan. 11 responded to a report of an intoxicated person at a River Road restaurant whom had assaulted staff members and was refusing to leave. Upon arrival, the person reported, Thomas Ridgway, 52, of Rumson, was arrested and charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct.
