The following recent arrests were reported by Middletown police. An arrest does not constitute a conviction.

• Obinna Okafor, 38, of North 9th Street in Newark, was arrested on May 22 and charged with theft by Detective Keith Hirschbein.

He was released pending a court date.

• Kirsten Miller, 20, of Concord Avenue in the Leonardo section of Middletown, was arrested on May 19 and charged with shoplifting from the Foodtown store by Patrolman Savvas Roumeliotis.

She was released pending a court date.

• Bryan McKee, 25, of Pedee Place in Middletown, was arrested on May 22 by Patrolman Jesse Toma and charged with obstructing the administration of law.

He was released pending a court date.

• Jake Fritzler, 23, of North Monticello Avenue in Chicago, IL, was arrested on May 22 by Sergeant Donald Coates and charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• A strong arm robbery was reported to have occurred on May 25 on Leonard Street. The victim reported that a male approached him outside of his residence and assaulted him by punching him and knocking him unconscious. The perpetrator fled with the victim’s wallet, containing cash and a debit card.

• A theft was reported to have occurred on Maple Avenue on May 27. The victim reported that someone stole his wallet, containing cash and credit cards, from a gym locker.

• A theft was reported to have occurred on May 27 on Harding Road. The victim reported that someone entered a parked vehicle and stole an iPhone, gold earrings, an HP tablet and a Garmin GPS.

The following recent criminal incidents were reported by Red Bank police:

• A theft was reported to have occurred at a Riverside Avenue hotel on May 18. The victim reported that she had checked a Marc Jacobs diaper bag, containing credit cards (etc.) at the front desk of the hotel and upon retrieval it was missing.

Patrolman John Camarca took the report.

• A robbery was reported to have occurred on May 17 at a Shrewsbury Avenue residence. The victim said that she heard a loud bang on the front door. Upon answering the door, the perpetrator grabbed her, punched her in the face, stole her iPhone and then fled the area.

• An incident of criminal mischief was reported to have occurred on May 16 on East Newman Springs Road. The victim reported that an unknown person keyed the side of a parked vehicle with a sharp object.

• A theft was reported to have occurred at a Monmouth Street parking lot on May 15. The victim reported that someone cut the lock on a bicycle which was secured to a pole and stole it. The bicycle is described as a grey Schwinn Mountain Bike.

• A theft was reported to have occurred on May 13 at the Bridge Avenue parking lot. The victim reported that someone entered a parked vehicle and stole a duffle bag containing clothing and prescription pills.

Juvenile, Teen Arrested on Weapons, Aggravated Assault & Terroristic Threat Charges

• Nicole Doherty, 33, of First Avenue in the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, was arrested on May 9, by Patrolman Nicholas Haines and charged with simple assault and on a contempt of court warrant issued by the Shrewsbury Municipal Court.

She was released after posting $389 bail with a 10 percent option.

• Jesse Kimball, 44, of Belmont Avenue in Madison, was arrested on May 9 by Corporal Richard Raike and charged with simple assault.

He was held on $2,500 bail set by Judge Richard Thompson.

Man Arrested on Warrant for Aggravated Assault; $75K Bail

The following recent arrests made on contempt of court charges were reported by Middletown police.

• Jonathan Rocha, 28, of Arvin Road in Old Bridge, was arrested on April 30 by Patrolman Adam Vendetti on a warrant out of Old Bridge for aggravated assault charges.

He was held on $75,000 bail.

• Harold Johnson, 33, of Sherman Avenue in the Belford section of Middletown, was arrested on April 24 by Patrolman Nicholas Fenezia on contempt of court warrants issued by Hazlet, Middletown, Red Bank and Holmdel municipal courts.

He was released after posting $5,269 bail.

Alleged Drug Traffickers Admit to Heroin Dealing Conspiracy

A press release from the Office of U.S. Attorney, Paul J. Fishman:

Two members of a large-scale drug trafficking organization Monday admitted conspiring to distribute heroin in Monmouth and Ocean counties, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced.

Robert Ketcham, 28, of Bayville, and Kenneth Greenhow, 41, of Asbury Park, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Peter G. Sheridan in Trenton federal court to separate information charging them each with one count of conspiring to distribute heroin.

In March 2014, 21 alleged members of the Britt-Young DTO, a drug trafficking organization named after its leaders, Robert Britt and Rufus Young, were charged by criminal complaint with conspiring to distribute heroin. Of those 21 individuals, 14 have pleaded guilty.

According to documents filed in the case and statements made in court:

Between February 2013 and December 2013, Ketcham conspired with Young and others to distribute heroin in Ocean and Monmouth counties as part of the Britt-Young DTO.

From October 2013 through March 2014, Greenhow also conspired with Young and others to distribute heroin on behalf of the Britt-Young DTO. Ketcham and Greenhow were collectively responsible for distributing between 60 and 100 grams of heroin.

The narcotics conspiracy charge to which Ketcham and Greenhow pleaded guilty carries a maximum potential penalty of 20 years in prison and $1 million fine. Sentencing for both defendants is scheduled for Aug. 18, 2015.

U.S. Attorney Fishman credited special agents of the FBI, Red Bank Resident Office, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Richard M. Frankel, with the investigation leading to Monday’s guilty pleas.

Rumson Police Beat: Teen Party, Tax Fraud, DUI, Theft, Burglary

• A Bingham Avenue resident reported on April 9 a fraudulent tax return filed with her personal information.

The incident will be forwarded to the I.R.S. fraud department.

• A Lafayette Street resident reported on April 12 that his vehicle was vandalized by numerous eggs being thrown at it sometime during the night.

Patrolman Bryan Dougherty took the report.

• A West River Road resident reported on April 14 that there was a burglary at their home. Bicycles and surfboards were removed from the garage.

Patrolman Gaynor took the report.

• A Rumson Road resident reported on April 16 that a fraudulent tax return had been filed with her personal information. The incident will be forwarded to the I.R.S. fraud department.

Patrolman Lovgren took the report.

• A Little Silver resident reported on April 16 that her purse was stolen from her vehicle while at Meadowridge Park. A credit card was subsequently used at a store in Middletown.

Detective Christopher Isherwood investigated.

• Lea Brantly, 30, of Rumson, was arrested on April 18 on Hartshorne Lane and charged with driving under the influence (DUI) by Patrolman Campanella.

Brantly was released pending a municipal court date.

• A Bingham Hill Circle resident reported a burglary at her home. Entry was gained by breaking a door window. The resident reported jewelry missing.

Sgt. Koenig and Special Officer Leahy took the report. The incident was referred to the detectives.

• A Mays Landing resident reported on April 21 that his cement mixer was stolen from a construction site on Shrewsbury Avenue.

Patrolman Schneider took the report.

• Carl Bergen, 53, of Red Bank, was arrested on April 21 at headquarters on charges of numerous counts of burglary, theft and credit card fraud by Detective Christopher Isherwood.

Bergen was released pending court.

• Headquarters received a report on April 25 of a large party at a Clover Lane address with possible underage alcohol consumption. Patrolmen Fenn and Dougherty responded and were assisted by officers from Sea Bright, Fair Haven and Little Silver.

Contempt of court

• Paul Dougherty, 50, of Belmar, was arrested April 3 on West River Road on a contempt of court charge by Ptl. Lovgren.

Dougherty was released to Belmar Police.
• Victoria Hayes, 41, of Union Beach, was arrested April 6 on Bingham Avenue on a contempt of court charge by Special Officer Berger.

Hayes was released after posting $350 bail.

• Trevor Eyerkuss, 25, of Little Silver, was arrested on April 20 at headquarters on a contempt of court charge by Special Officer Morse.

Eyerkuss was released after posting $300 bail.

Area Woman Headed to Prison on $500K Insurance Fraud Charge

An area woman has been sentenced to three years in state prison for submitting more than $500,000 worth of fraudulent healthcare insurance claims, Acting Attorney General John Hoffman and the Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor (OIFP) announced.

Donna Dzienisewski, 41, of Middletown, pleaded guilty in October to a second-degree healthcare claims fraud charge that she bilked Horizon Blue Cross/Blue Shield of New Jersey by submitting 101 completely illegitimate claims within a two-year period — between March 18, 2011 and March 12, 2013.

“Defrauding an insurance company is not the path to easy money, it is the road to prison,” Acting Insurance Fraud Prosecutor Ronald Chillemi said in a released statement. “We will continue to vigorously prosecute these cases and seek punishment for those who commit these crimes.”

Dzieniskewski, according to the Attorney General, “gave the false impression that she incurred approximately $502,740 in reimbursable” health care expenses during 107 doctor visits, when she actually incurred only $2,640 of those expenses in six legitimate of the total 107 doctor visits. The legitimate $2,640 in the six visits was also falsely inflated by her to show $8,640 in expenses.

Dzienisewski then deposited $141,126 into her bank account, according to the Attorney General.

She was sentenced by Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Anthony J. Mellaci Jr.

Deputy Attorney General Bradford Muller represented the state at the sentencing hearing. Deputy Attorney General T.J. Harker and Detectives Wendy Berg and Matthew Armstrong coordinated the investigation. Analyst Kelly Celenza provided substantial assistance in the financial analysis of the investigation.
