The headline really should just say “The R-FH Area Sunday,” as Sunday seems to be the day for all events R-FH area related.
Of course, to start the day on Sunday, the Rumson St. Patrick’s Day Parade marches into its 11th year starting at 1 p.m. at the intersection of Allen Street and River Road. It continues down River Road to Carton Street. The parade is a big one, lasting approximately 90 minutes.

Road closing alert from Rumson police …
“On Sunday, March 10, 2024, at approximately 11:30 a.m., West River Road will will be closed to vehicular traffic from Bingham Avenue to Buena Vista.
At approximately 1 p.m. all of River Road, from Buena Vista to Ridge Road, will be closed during the parade and vehicular traffic must utilize Ridge Road.”
And starting at 2 p.m. on Sunday, after the parade, or just before it ends, another traditional party gets started at Columbus Club in Fair Haven at the corner of Third Street and Fair Haven Road. The party is the club’s annual early St. Patrick’s Day fete.

And, capping off the Sunday, a bit further down the road in Asbury Park, there will be an art show featuring the work of Thomas “Cooper” Ley, RFH 2011 grad on what would have been his 31st birthday. He passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 11. Limited pieces of Cooper’s work will be for sale, the proceeds of which will benefit organizations that he held dear and knew to help many.
The show will run from 3 to 5 p.m. at Wild Air Beerworks brewery in Asbury. If you haven’t experienced Cooper’s work, you’re in for a treat from this Rumson-raised talent gone too soon.
Cheers to a Sunday of celebrations! Happy early St. Patrick’s Day and Happy Birthday, Cooper!
