Sea Bright Farmers Market Seeks More Vendors

The Sea Bright Farmers Market is back in season and with it some popular vendors have returned. But, organizers are looking for a few more.

According to a Facebook post, the market is “looking to expand our 2016 list …”  That list, so far, includes: Harvest Moon Farm, Holly Jolly Jams, Pickle Licious, Baker’s Bounty, Neshanic Valley Bee Keepers, Hot Sauce Good, Green Duchess Farm, Harvest Moon Organic Farm, and, new this season, Gourmet Nuts and Dried Fruit.

Organizers say that “at present, we are are hoping to add a coffee roaster and organic dog/cat treat vendor. If you are interested in being considered or have suggestions/recommendations feel free to message us here … or call/text our market managers, Sonya Cappillo at 732-614-9590 or Linda Blevins at 732-757-1374. Any vendor interested in participating must carry a general liability insurance policy.”

The market, which runs for the season every Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m. in the Sea Bright Municipal Parking Lot, is a produce/food farmers market.

A ‘Bounty’ Win at Sea Bright Farmers Market

Well, the Sea Bright Farmers Market was flush with people and sun on Thursday.

Most usual vendors were there. Central Valley Farm folks told many that the corn was, yes, Jersey fresh, as were several other pickings.

There was a lot of other organic produce, like beets, that corn, onions, garlic, scallions, tomatoes, kale, tiny sugar plums, peaches and more, of course.

But, over at the Baker’s Bounty stand, they assured us that not only was everything organic, from flour, to fruit, to produce and eggs, but the onion rye was a major favorite.

Well, we took them up on that and they were right! YUM! Crusty, pretty and tasty.

So, needless to say, the onion rye from Baker’s Bounty is our foodie pick of the week.

The organization has been family owned since 1978 — a favorite year of this RFH foodie.

Scene Around: Sea Bright Beach, Farmers Market Time

The Sea Bright beach scene has been sparse, due to the past few hazy, humid couple of days peppered with rain.

But, the clear, crisp weather break set in just in time for the Sea Bright Farmers Market, featuring Marcy of Relish Chef Services concocting some treats and a newbie maker of organic treats for dogs — Waggle Snapp.

Many of the usual favorites will also be back today: BakersBounty, Central Valley Farm, Fair Mountain Coffee Roasters, Farmer Meg’s Digest, ‎FlyBrookFarm,‬ Franklin Soapworks, Green Duchess Farm, Harvest Moon Farm, Holly Jolly Jams, Holly Hill Farm and Neshanic Valley Beekeepers.

The market is open in the Sea Bright Municipal Parking Lot, in front of the beach, from 2 to 7 p.m..

Sea Bright Farmers Market Feature: Cheesy and Udderly Fresh

This Sea Bright Farmers Market butter, cheese and probiotic comes to you straight from the cow’s utters — the grass-fed cow’s.

That’s the scoop Rumson-Fair Haven Retrospect got from Chris Stoner of Central Valley Farm.

“Yes, that’s my real name,” she said while explaining the makings of some special farm fresh products her farm sells at the market on Thursdays. “People always joke around with me and say, ‘What, exactly is it that you’re growing on that farm?'”

The truth, she said, is that they’re growing lots of vegetables and herbs, harvesting eggs from the chickens, and milking the grass-fed cows at least twice a day. And that organic milk is then churned into butter and turned into cheese, probiotic shakes and fruity treats.

“Yes, the butter, cheeses and shakes come right from the cow,” Stoner said. “Totally organic. Very yummy.”

The farm offers several different types of cheese, such as gouda, dill cheese cubes, ricotta, and the favorite, Jersey Cheese, is a soft, mild cheddar, she said.

We tried the farm fresh butter. It is a creamy organic dream. And it will, yes, melt in your mouth. We’re now convinced that there’s nothing better than fresh butter.

It’s not salty. “We use about a pinch of salt per four pounds, so if you like it a little saltier, you should add some on your own,” Stoner said.

The Sea Bright Farmers Market is back in season and the goods are ripe for the picking.

In addition to the old favorites — Picklelicious, Fair Mountain Coffee Roasters, Harvest Moon Farm, Holly Jolly Jams, Neshanic Valley Beekeepers, Baker’s Bounty and Franklin Soapworks — there are also some small family-owned farm vendors that have joined in the second year of the outdoor locally grown, organically crafted shopping tradition in the Sea Bright Municipal Parking lot from 2 to 7 p.m. on Thursdays.

Those new additions include organic goodies, like Asian produce, herbs, free-range and grass-fed meats, farm fresh cheeses and  from Green Duchess , Central Valley and Holly Hill and Harvest Moon farms. DIVE was also there offering some samples of corn and clam chowder.
