NJ State Police detectives are seeking the public’s assistance to determine the cause of a Friday fatal hit-and-run motor vehicle crash in Middletown on the Garden State Parkway.

The crash background …
On Friday, Feb. 14, at 5:58 p.m., a Honda Pilot was traveling southbound on the Garden State Parkway express lanes near milepost 112.8. While the vehicle was in motion, its front-seat passenger got out of the vehicle and was struck by multiple unknown vehicles that failed to stop at the scene.
As a result of the crash, that passenger, Jose Cerda-Estevez, 33, of Plainfield, was killed.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or the events prior to or following the crash is asked to contact Troop “D” Holmdel Station – Detective Bureau at 732-441-4500 ext. 7417. Anonymous tips are welcome.
