Focus: Signs of Memorial Day Remembrance in Fair Haven

The rain may have stopped the Memorial Day parade, but Fair Haven folks still paid homage to those who lost their lives in war defending America.

Rumson-Fair Haven Retrospect could not make the ceremony at Knollwood School on Monday, but signs of remembrance remained all over the borough on the drizzly day.

UPDATE: Memorial Day in Rumson, Fair Haven

UPDATE: Due to the forecast of inclement weather, the Fair Haven Memorial Day Parade has been canceled. There will, instead, be a ceremony at Knollwood School at 9 a.m.. So far, the Rumson parade is still on with the ceremony to follow at Victory Park.  From the Rumson website: “Due to weather concerns, announcement will be posted 7.30am Monday re: the status of the Memorial Day Parade and location of the ceremony.”  Click here to access the Rumson website. 

Memorial Day parades and ceremonies start the day on Monday, an hour apart, in Rumson and Fair Haven.

A Rumson Memorial Day

It was a day of remembrance, honor and celebration — Memorial Day 2015 in Rumson.

The day began with a parade which ended in Victory Park. There, vets, friends, family and locals gathered to pay homage to those who died in service to their country.

R-FH Area Memorial Day Events

Monday is Memorial Day. It is not just a barbecue day, or the signal to the unofficial start of summer. It is a day of remembrance to those United States war veterans who have died in service to their country.

In the Rumson-Fair Haven area, many veterans of World War II, the Korean War and Viet Nam are still alive. They, community, family and friends gather annually on this day to pay homage to those whose lives were sacrificed in war.
