The Nor’easter remnants have hit the Rumson-Fair Haven area.
And, as predicted and history has shown, the combination of torrential rains, wind and high tides have produced some flooding on Ocean Avenue in Sea Bright and into the low-lying West Park section of Rumson.
In Rumson, Mayor John Ekdahl said in the late morning that “tides are running three feet above normal and is over the bulkhead in parts of West Park and Sea Bright.”
While the mayor said that the high tide point, at 10 a.m. had passed for the morning, “subsequent high tides during the course of this 3 day storm are not expected to be as high as this morning’s.”
According to the National Weather Service, flood watch is in effect for the Sea Bright and low-lying Rumson area until 1 a.m. Wednesday. A wind advisory is in effect until 4 p.m. today, with gusts as high as 45 mph.
Sea Bright Fire Rescue reported “multiple water rescues today” and posted a video. To see it, click here.
There are spots of flooding on Ocean Avenue, according to residents’ posts on the All About Sea Bright Facebook page; and, with winds picking up, while, some of the water is beginning to recede, side streets are not passable.
At about 10:45 a.m. a paddle boarder was spotted making his way down Center Street.
There will be periods of snow and rain through Thursday, according to the National Weather Service, with the sun coming out on Friday.
