Still hangin’ after all these years …
There’s nothing like the warmth of lifelong friendship on a dank, wintry day.
Never mind that these three Fair Haven-raised friends and a mom are vacationing and basking in the sunshine state. That helps. But it’s their lifelong bond that shines through, exuding the comfort of everything that’s sunny side up about life and lifetime friendship, not to mention surviving pandemic times.
And when you throw a 97-year-old mom into the mix, who wouldn’t smile over the scene? Yes, Jeanne Murphy Wnorowski, Peggy Miller and Ginger White Tassinari have been hanging out together since kindergarten and nothing has or will ever put a stop to their friend time.
Peggy’s Mom, Irene Miller, is all for it, too. Everyone knows Irene. She’s that longtime Fair Haven mom who was the wife of iconic Exxon owner Ray Miller. Nothing like growing up and old(ER) together. It’s more like this bunch is growing younger together. Their secret? Laughter. They’ve been up to all sorts of antics since kindergarten. And every now and then there’s a crazy funny Snapchat video posted by the three. They’re also happy to teach the old coots of us how to keep in step with such apps and the rolling on the floor laughter they wreak.
What are they up to now? Well, for one, Peggy is longtime jewelry maker and owner of Peg’s Jewels. She often resurfaces in the area at craft fairs. Check out her website. Jeanne comes home whenever she gets a chance and served on the Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) Class of ’78 40th Reunion Committee. And R-FH Retro caught up with Ginger most recently at Fair Havenite Rich Chandler’s celebration of life.
Jeanne and Ginger’s moms would have likely joined the foursome if they hadn’t passed away in the past few years. And they’d definitely be able to keep up — or lead the pack.
So, here’s to best friends that never part and the moms there from the start. Who are your besties? Still friends? Favorite best friend pastime? Prank? Trouble? Which parent came to the rescue?
Jeanne and Ginger are in this Fair Haven fifth grade class. Can you find them?
