There’s nothing quite like a little reunion and cruise on smooth waters.
That’s exactly what happened recently when former longtime Fair Havenite and Knollwood School and Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School Class of ’78 grad Kate Hamilton set sail for a SeaStreak cruise from Highlands to Nantucket.
Once aboard, she realized that the captain of her ferry was none other than — fasten your seatbelts — fellow Fair Havenite, Knollwood and RFH grad Bill Heath, also a former Fair Haven police officer.
The two hadn’t seen one another in several decades. Feeling quite at home with the karmic coincidence, they set sail for a waterborne reunion. He steered the ship (or ferry, that is) and she got a captain’s eye view in the wheelhouse and a lot of catching up.
Grateful for her roots and this little happenstance, Hamilton said, “How cool is it when you are travelling aboard the #Seastreak to #Nantucket and you know the Captain from High School? So up to the Bridge I am invited and off for a trip of beautiful views, shared memories and a special day to always remember. Thank you William Heath for asking me and what a way to start my Nantucket visit.”
How cool? Very.
It is indeed a small world and these hometown connections always wind their way back home somehow. Here stays the neighborhood.
