Retro RFH Senior Dinner Dancing Girls & a Guy

Last dance? Last chance for fun? Not for these RFHers! Never.

Forty-five years ago, the RFH Class of ’78 kids, like these four, were off to their senior dinner dance at The Shore Casino in Atlantic Highlands. They’d have never imagined then that 45 years later, they’d be right back where they thought they’d danced their last teen-spirited dance.

Disco may no longer be in, but there will definitely be some Saturday night fever going on this Saturday right at the scene of the senior year joy crime, the same Shore Casino, disco ball and all, when the class gathers for its 45th reunion.

They’re ready and set to dance and party like it’s 1978 — the first dance. Some things never change — like the gusto to party on among these classmates. But, some things do — like fashion.

Back then, it was all about pastels and polyester, though these RFHers had slightly better taste. They were grooving with spaghetti-strapped gowns, ruffles, hats (yes, hats), and flowery prints.

Never mind the all-dressed-up part, though. This crew definitely has somewhere to go on this Saturday night.

And the music will be keyed up! In fact, on the exact date, Aug. 26, 1978, the top song of the day was not a disco tune, even though this place had the ball. It was Grease.

“I saw my problems and I’ll see the light. We got a lovin’ thing. We gotta feed it right …” Right? Yes, this class does have a lovin’ thing. The feeding? There’ll be more of that at the party.

Know these RFH teens of ’78? Two of them are seen around the towns in a much more somber environment — parties of a different kind, let’s say.

Cheers to the RFH Class of ’78 and that first dance!

** P.S. … Class members, please do not forget to bring cash, as in green bills. No credit cards will be accepted at the bar! **
