A reprise in honor of forever RFH best friends … Cheers to Friday, courtesy of the RFH Ladies of the Round Table!
There’s a pair of besties in every crowd, or club. And there’s a club for just about everything, including things that likely would be frowned upon in the millennium.
But, back in the day, the 1970s to be exact, pairs and trios of besties teamed up at Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School to create a club of a different kind — the chillin with the cool girls kind.
And they, these Ladies of the Round Table, were quite candid and proud of their girl fest activities. Hey, this “group of good will and cheer” got together weekly to “imbibe and pursue leisurely interests.”
The graphic, very well done, shows a round table in front of a fireplace with a softball, a bat, a pitcher (of something), and a pack of cigarettes.
Hmmmm … Somehow a fireplace and those sweaters in the photo don’t jibe with softball weather. So, while these ladies not in waiting may have very well played softball in warmer weather, what is it that they did in those winter months?
Girls? How well do you think this sort of club would go over in this era? Never mind the pandemic and distance. How about those good will and cheer activities? Fess up, girls. What was it all about. Hey, it was yearbook picture-worthy, so it was legit. We think …
Remember? Know any of these ladies? They were all friends, obviously; but, which were best buds?
