It’s summertime and the RFH reunions are revving up with a big “Cheers to the class!” — whichever it may be.
In fact, the RFH Class of ‘73 is celebrating half a century since graduation with its 50th reunion on the same night that the Class of ’78 is having its 45th — Aug. 26.
So, we’re taking you back 20 years to the RFH Class of ’73 in 2003 at their 30th reunion at what is now Nauvoo in Fair Haven and used to be The Varsity Club, a couple of other incarnations and, most memorably, Lock, Stock & Barrel back in the day (yes, of the RFH dinosaur). But dinosaurs had quite a looming, booming presence in their heyday — just like RFHers. And many RFHers still storm the reunion stage with gusto and a good ol’ stomp on old turf.
For their gala 50th, the class is planning a whole weekend’s worth of celebrating with the main event at Salt Creek Grille on Saturday night.
This RFH crew has a lot of partying energy. They will be haunting the halls of their old school, having a panel discussion, hitting the Fair Haven Firemen’s Fair and, well, whatever else they can fit in.
It’s getting down to the wire, though, and the reunion organizers are asking everyone to get that confirmation and payment in to the committee to join the, thus far, 72 attending. These RFHers are also offering anonymous assistance to those who cannot afford the events, but would like to attend. There are instructions on the RFH Class of ’73 Facebook page for that.
The message is that the class does not want to see anyone left out and donations have already been made to cover the costs of those who need the help. “Please come!” the message says.
