Hey, batter, batter, swing! Spring is here. Baseball season is in full swing; and, it’s bound to be a hit at RFH this year.
Pandemic restrictions lifted, all is right on the field at the high school. Players are playing and the return to some sort of normalcy in the game is home run for all this year.
In fact, there are varsity and junior varsity home games today at 4. Both are playing Freehold Borough at the high school field and Meadow Ridge in Rumson, respectively.
So, with this Retro Pic of the (George) Day, we take a look back at a home game (or something like that) at RFH in the mid-1970s. The spectator stand is a bit sparse, but there is an audience for this game (or practice). Those spectators are recognizable RFHers. Take a close look. Who do you spy?
Twisting and turning into that swing with the baseball not far away and a catcher ready to catch, is a team player who’s banking on giving those onlookers a home run or at least a good play on that field.
Recognize that batter? Catcher? And just who is in that stand?
