The forecast calls for a dim, drizzly, damp weekend in the Rumson-Fair Haven area. And what that amounts to is the postponement of one event and the literal blessing of another to go on as planned.
• Fair Haven’s all new Trucktoberfest, a spin-off and aging-down of its original Oktoberfest, was slated for Saturday at Fair Haven Fields.
But, the wind and rain put a damper on the event and it has been postponed to Oct. 22, organizers have announced.
This year’s family-friendly event, scheduled to take place from 3 to 9 p.m., nixes the adults only motif, bringing music, food trucks, entertainment, games, a hayride, and, yes, adult beverages to the fields.

• The stormy weather will not stop the blessing of the animals at St. George’s-by-the-River Episcopal Church in Rumson on Sunday, though.
In commemoration of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, the church will offer a blessing of animals beginning at 2 p.m. at the house of worship by the water.
All animals, leashed, and humans, unleashed to an extent, are invited. Check the St. George’s website for more information.
