Two DWI checkpoints have been set for Labor Day Weekend: one in northern and another in southern Monmouth County, DWI Task Force Coordinator and Allenhurst Police Chief Michael Schneider announced.
Starting with Friday night, a checkpoint will be operated in Keyport on Route 36.
Starting at 10 p.m., Monmouth County DWI Task Force members and Keyport police will pull vehicles into the Stop & Shop parking lot on Route 36 from the southbound lanes of the highway to detect whether or not drivers are operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
That checkpoint will be operated through 2 a.m. on Saturday.
And on Saturday evening, Wall Township police and DWI Task Force members will operate a checkpoint on Route 138 starting at 10 p.m.
They will pull vehicles into the dental office parking lot there from the westbound lanes of the highway to determine sobriety.
That checkpoint will also operate through 2 a.m. on Sunday.
