Former Fair Havenite, wife, mom and teacher, Arlene Measley, passed away quietly on Friday morning, June 19, at her Little Silver home.
Born in Elyria, Ohio, to Charles and Edith Drake, Arlene was raised in Hammonton, NJ. After high school, she graduated from Glassboro State College (Rowan University), where she became the college’s first Campus Queen in 1948. A member of the Glassboro’s synchronized swim team, she was in Who’s Who in America’s Universities & Colleges.
After college, Arlene pursued a career as an elementary school teacher and raised her family in Fair Haven. Over the years she enjoyed her time traveling, bird watching and painting.

Arlene is survived by her of 69 years, John; her son, Jay; daughters Bonnie and Gail; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
All services are private and under the direction of Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank.
