In Memoriam: Sea Bright Resident, Mike Stap, 76

Sea Bright resident Michael J. Stap passed away suddenly on Jan. 21. He was 76.

Born in Clifton to Matthew John and Marie (Kovalcik) Stap, Mike was a 1968 graduate of Rider College majoring in Business Administration. He moved to Princeton to work for the Gallup Organization, and then relocated to NYC where he was employed by Vera Institute of Justice.

Founded in 1961, The Vera Institute of Justice sums their mission as: “We develop just, antiracist solutions so that money doesn’t determine freedom; fewer people are in jails, prisons, and immigration detention; and everyone in the system
is treated with dignity”. 

He ended his career as an executive recruiter in the finance industry operating his business, Halliday Warren, Inc.

Mike was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Ginger McCloy.

He is survived by: his beloved wife of 43 years, Cathleen Titus, his only son, Matthew of Asheville, NC, and sisters; Susan (John) French, of Edgewater Park, Bett Stap, of Crofton, MD and Jeanne (Mark) Nooney, of Chester, MD.

Family and friends are welcome to visit on Sunday, Jan. 28, from noon to 3 p.m. at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank. Interment will be private. Reception will follow at Molly Pitcher Inn, 88 Riverside Ave. Red Bank, NJ from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m..
