Longtime Rumsonite Patricia Harvey Buchsbaum, affectionately known as Pat, passed away in the early hours of Jan. 30 after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was 93.
Born in in 1927 in St. Petersburg, FL, Pat’s family eventually moved to Deal when she was young. She graduated from Asbury Park High School and was voted “Swoon Queen” in her senior year. After graduation, she studied at Edgewood Park Jr. College in Briarcliff, NY.
Pat married Robert ‘Bob’ Buchsbaum in 1950. The couple settled down in Rumson where they raised their family.
Pat was know to enjoy the club’s horticulture, floral design, conservation and fundraising programs. She was recognized for local beautification projects, her work as RGC president, and co-chairing statewide events. “She took great pride in each and every one of these endeavors, but the lasting friendships and camaraderie were what made this part of her life so meaningful,” her obituary said.
Pat is survived by, and will be dearly missed by: her two children, son William ‘Bill’ Buchsbaum (and wife, Lisa Huber), Southport, NC, and Scarborough, Maine, and daughter, Barbara (and husband Robert Movelle), Southport, NC; her four grandchildren, Lauren Buchsbaum (Los Angles, CA), Christine Buchsbaum (Denver, CO), Sean Movelle and wife Sheila (Naperville, Il), and Rita Movelle Schaefer and husband Nathaniel (Indianapolis, IN). Pat was also recently blessed with her first great grandchild, Charles Robert Schaefer.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers provided by Evolving Care, as well as the staff at the Atrium of Navesink Harbor, Red Bank, for all their kindness and support.
Arrangements are being handled by Thompson Memorial Home with a memorial service to be held at a future date. The family requests that should any memorial donations be made, please do so to a charity of your choice.
