Longtime Rumsonite, Dolores “Dory” Federkeil Reagan, passed away peacefully at Arbor Terrace on Thursday, May 14. She was 95.
Born in Bayonne to William and Marie Federkeil, Dory grew up in Elizabeth and was a 1948 graduate of Battin High School.
She worked for Prudential Insurance for three years, then married the love of her life, Jim, on May 6, 1950. They lived in Elizabeth and Clark, then in a neighborhood of young families in Rahway.
“They moved to Rumson in 1966. Dory cherished being a stay-at-home mom, always saying it was her vocation to be a mother of boys.

“Once the boys were all in school, she worked at Rumson Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) as a teacher’s aide for 16 years.
“Dory lived a faith-filled life and was a longtime devoted parishioner of Holy Cross RC Church in Rumson, where she was a member of the Social Concerns Committee. She was also a dedicated volunteer at The Center in Asbury Park since 1992.
“Thoroughly enjoying traveling, Dory adventured to Ireland, Hawaii, Alaska, and New Mexico and she enjoyed wintering in Florida for many years, pursuing her continued love for the ocean. Dory spent her final loving years at Arbor Terrace where she was surrounded by caring friends and staff.”
Dory is predeceased by: her beloved husband of 64 years, James E. Reagan (2014); and by her cherished son, Thomas Reagan (1991).
She is survived by: her loving sons, James, Michael and wife, Jean, and William Reagan and wife, Stacy; her cherished grandchildren, Amanda Grace Chimento and husband, Mike, Reagan Sophia Michaelson, and Cassandra Brielle Reagan; her two precious great-grandchildren, Matthew Michael and Anna Grace Chimento; and her caring nieces, Arleen Read and Judy Reagan.
Family and friends may visit Thursday, May 21, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 22, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross RC Church in Rumson, followed by interment at Fair View Cemetery in Middletown.
