In Memoriam: Longtime Red Bank Resident, Monmouth Boat Club Member, Les Hathaway, 78

Longtime Red Bank resident, Howard “Les” Hathaway III, passed away peacefully on March 7 at his home.  He was 78.

Born in Long Branch, Les settled in Red Bank in 1993.

“The joy of Les’ life was his beloved wife of 35 years, Judith Hathaway. Together, they traveled the world, hosted dinner parties, and spent countless hours with friends at the Monmouth Boat Club. His interest in sailing began when he crewed with his father at the age of 13 at the Monmouth Boat Club. He was a lifetime member and he formed his most enduring friendships there. He was regularly involved as race committee, helping new members, and with social events. He was also an active member of US Sailing, New Jersey Yacht Racing Association, and Navesink Maritime Heritage Association. He was an accomplished sailor, having competed in the Newport to Bermuda Race and many Lightning North American championships. “
