Longtime Red Bank resident, Katia Barragan, “passed away peacefully with her family by her side” on Saturday, Jan. 6. She was 77.


“Born in Quito, Ecuador to Nicolas and Jenny Barragan, Katia was the oldest of five children. Katia worked throughout her life in accounting and retired from Power & Motoryacht Magazine in New York City. She was also a long-time parishioner of St. James RC Church in Red Bank.”

Katia is predeceased by: her parents, Nicolas and Jenny Barragan; her aunt, M. Teresa Espinoza; and her brother-in-law, Orlando Luis Marini.
She is survived by: her devoted siblings, Magdalena Barragan, Ana Patricia Marini, Nicolas A. Barragan and Jenny S. Gargano and husband Michael; her sister-in-law, Mercy Barragan; six cherished nieces and nephews, Carla Marini, Luis Alberto Marini, Nicolas Barragan, Jasmine Barragan, Angelica Barragan and Gabriela Gargano; and seven great-nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held privately.
