Longtime former Fair Havenite Theodore J. Stieve, most recently of Tinton Falls, passed away on Jan. 14. He was 92.
Ted moved to Fair Haven in 1967 where he lived and raised his family for nearly 50 years.
Born on Sept. 19, 1928 to Theodore and Marie Stieve, of Milburn, Ted attended Millburn Public Schools, followed by Johns Hopkins University. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy.
Ted married Lois Ann Markey on Oct. 9, 1954 and moved to Hazlet. There he served on the Hazlet Board of Education for six years, three of which he was its president.
The move to Fair Haven came after Hazlet.
Ted began his business career with Union Carbide and the American Oxygen Company before starting Weldon Inc., a metal fabrication company in Clark, NJ, from which he retired.
Ted is survived by: Lois, his wife 66 years; three daughters and son-in-laws, Annemarie and Thomas Stewart, of St. Petersburg, FL, Katherine (Kim) and David Plough, of Portola Valley, CA, Allison and Edmond Acquaviva, of Oakhurst; three grandchildren whom he adored and enjoyed spending time with, Avery Plough, Kelsey Plough, and Edmond T. Acquaviva; three brothers, Richard Stieve, of Springfield, and John and Robert Stieve who have predeceased him.
He will be sorely missed by his brother-in-law and best friend, John S. Hall of Linwood, and numerous nieces and nephews of whom he was very fond.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, a service in his memory will not be held at this time.
A celebration of his life will be scheduled at a time when family and friends can travel and attend safely.
