The votes are in; and the Republican incumbents in both the Rumson and Fair Haven Borough Council races have kept their seats, according to the unofficial tallies (not counting provisional and absentee ballots) from the Monmouth County Board of Elections.
In Fair Haven …
There was a contested race with incumbents Rowland Wilhelm and Jonathan Peters challenged by Democrats Shervyn von Hoerl and Christopher Rodriquez.
Wilhelm and Peters have won additional terms on council. The top vote-getter in the race was Peters with 1,597 votes. Wilhelm garnered 1,544.
Democrat challenger Rodriguez brought in 1,451 votes with his running mate, von Hoerl, garnering 1,451.
There were 5 write-in votes.
A total of 5,911 votes were cast.
In Rumson …
Republican incumbents Laura Atwell and Joseph Hemphill kept their borough council seats with 2,279 and 2,219 votes, respectively. Atwell was the top vote-getter.
Democratic challenger Michael Steinhorn garnered 913 votes.
There were 17 write-in votes.
The total votes cast were 5,428.
Fair Haven Board of Education
With a total of 6,412 votes cast, Carol Lang, Sheri D’Angelo have won seats on the nine-member board, garnering 1,607 and 1,384 votes, respectively. Marisa Coar won another term with 1,296 votes.
Five ran for the three seats up for grabs.
