Focus: Benched for River Time Warmth

Sometimes, being benched is a good thing. It’s springtime and the livin’ is downright summery these days. So, being benched with a Navesink River view at the Fair Haven Dock is just what the winter-weary doctor ordered for perennial river-time seekers.

Sopping up this kind of sunny river time heals the hometown heart of whatever ails it — like being away from home when you’re always a Fair Haven kid at heart. Soul-searching roads always lead to the river.

An exhale of “back where I belong” and benched view of the place that was another best friend and cohort in some simple kid fun down by the river, including that dare to jump the dock for coolness keep you terminally warm, like a summery spring day.

Holding the memories close with a little squeeze in the mind keeps them safe, benched with a bestie. So, hillbilly talk aside, go ahead, sit a spell and go back now, hear?

One more day of summertime sun and it’s back to standard springtime, where the livin’ is always good down by the river, too. Take in the view from here and check out the weather report, courtesy of the National Weather Service, for the week in the Rumson-Fair Haven area by clicking here.
