Tradition and activity abound this weekend in the Rumson-Fair Haven area.
The fun and festivities start on Friday night with a prequel to the fifth annual Rumson St. Patrick’s Day Parade set for Sunday …
• At Surf BBQ, 132 East River Road, from 7 to 11 p.m there will be a special celebration of the fifth anniversary of the parade with music by John Rafferty, food. The MJL Memorial Irish Essay Competition and a Kids Irish Poster Contest winners will be also be announced. And this year’s Grand Marshall Lee Carr will be there to join in the fun.

And on Saturday, the day starts with …
• The 2017 3-Mile Fun Run/Walk at 11 a.m. in Sea Bright. The race honors the memory of RFH grad Keith McHeffey and raising funds for area causes dear to his heart.

And on Saturday in Rumson …
The fourth annual Two Rivers Exhibition of Sporting Collectible Art will be hosted by Ducks Unlimited/Monmouth County and the NJ Waterfowl Carvers’ Association at Forrestdale School in Rumson from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m..
The craft show features and awards the work of decoy carvers and other sorts of wildlife artists from miles around.
And on Sunday …
• The fifth annual Rumson St. Patrick’s Day Parade gets marching at 1 p.m.
“The Rumson St. Patrick’s Day parade route starts on Allen Street and River Road and ends at the intersection of Carton Street and Forrest Avenue (approximately one mile long). We anticipate the parade lasting 1½ hours,” the parade website says.
• Then, following the parade is another tradition … in Fair Haven. It’s the Knights of Columbus corned beef and cabbage dinner, replete with dance and other Irish-spirited festivities, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the hall on Fair Haven Road.
