There will be two DWI checkpoints in Monmouth County from Friday night through early Sunday morning, Monmouth County DWI Task Force Coordinator and Allenhurst Police Chief Michael Schneider announced.

Starting at 10 p.m. Friday night a checkpoint will be set up in Shrewsbury at the Avenue of the Commons plaza on Route 35. Drivers going south on Route 35 will be directed into the Commons parking lot where those suspected of driving while intoxicated or under the influence will be screened for sobriety until 2 a.m. on Saturday.

Starting at 11 p.m. on Saturday, another checkpoint will be run through 3 a.m. on Route 9 in Howell. Vehicles will be pulled into Regal Plaza from Route 9 north where drivers will be checked for sobriety.
The local police and DWI Task Force members will be working together on the checks.
