Rumson police this morning announced on social media, as a “Community Alert” that two private schools in the borough were put into lockdown due to a report of a knife-wielding woman.
Police said that at 8:52 a.m. they “responded to the area of Holy Cross School” on the report of “a woman with a knife,” the post on Facebook said.
Holy Cross as well as Rumson Country Day School were put into lockdown “for safety precautions,” the post said, not elaborating as to why other borough schools, the public schools, including Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School, Forrestdale and Deane-Porter elementary were not included in the lockdown.
Rumson police added that the alleged knife-wielder had not yet been after several agencies assisted and continue to assist in the search, including Sea Bright and Fair Haven police and the Monmouth County Sherriff’s Department.
“At this point in time the incident is unconfirmed but still under investigation,” Rumson police concluded.
