With National Police Week coming to a close, it’s only fitting that we take a look back at the Fair Haven Police Department. This look goes back to 2001. It features some officers who have since retired, some who have moved on and some who have passed.
Former Chief Darryl Breckenridge is pictured here before his tenure as chief. He went on to become director of the Monmouth County Police Academy; and, recently, he was appointed undersheriff of the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office. Breckenridge and Cpl. John Waltz just completed the Police Unity Tour ride to Washington D.C. They are regulars on the ride.
So, in honor of Police Week, we take a look back at the Fair Haven Police Department of nearly 20 years ago, when Waltz was a rookie (or was he even an officer yet?) and Breckenridge was not chief. Present Chief Joe McGovern is pictured. Can you find him?
Several of the officers in this photo have since retired, including former Chief Rick Towler, Captain Paul McCue, Lt. Bill Heath, Dave Binaco and … who else? Do you know where they are now?
Recognize anyone else in this photo? Who was a former juvenile officer and president of the Monmouth County Juvenile Officers’ Association. Do you know what rank Breckenridge had in 2001?
