A Sayreville man has been indicted on attempted murder, bias intimidation and related charges in connection with the May beating of longtime area photojournalist Jerry Wolkowitz, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni announced on Tuesday.

Prosecutor: Authorities Seek Assistance in Identifying Pedestrian in Fatal Accident
Officials are looking for the public’s assistance in identifying a male victim involved in a motor vehicle collision on Route 9 in Marlboro Wednesday evening, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni said on Thursday.
Marlboro Police responded at 10:15 p.m. on July 11 to a report of a pedestrian struck on Route 9 in the vicinity of signalized U-turn north of Covered Bridge Road.
A 2001 Dodge Intrepid, traveling southbound in the right lane, struck an unidentified male who was travelling on foot in the area of the signalized turn. The victim struck the driver’s side of the vehicle, causing him to be projected up over the vehicle, striking the hood and windshield before coming to a final stop in the right lane of Route 9 on the southbound side, just south of the intersection.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:44 p.m.
Alisa Berkman, 56, of Manalapan, the operator of the 2001 Dodge Intrepid, was not injured.
Police are continuing with efforts to identify the pedestrian.

Red Bank & Sea Bright Firefighter Murdered
An announcement from the Fair Haven Fire Department mourning the death of young fellow firefighter Andrew Hill — a 2nd lieutenant of Red Bank’s Westside Hose Co. No. 1 and member of Sea Bright Fire Department — came on Sunday, hours after Hill was murdered.
“FHFD mourns the loss of Red Bank and Sea Bright Fire Dept member, Andrew Hill, who was taken from us too soon. Rest easy brother!” a Facebook message said.
