The mayor’s back in town and he was seen out boating, dining and socializing recently, moored to what’s new and classic on his old turf.
That turf would be Rumson (peppered with a bit of Sea Bright and Highlands, of course). The mayor, or former mayor, is longtime Rumsonite John Ekdahl. His still-Rumsonite friend is RFH Class of ’78’s John Lembeck.
We’re told that this former Merrill Lynch colleague duo caught up while the retired-to-Florida Ekdahl was back home for a visit by boating, docking, dining and hobnobbing along the Shrewsbury River. It’s a typical summer trek for area folks. And for a forever Rumsonite, it’s quite the apt homecoming jaunt.
There was a lunch at Bahr’s in Highlands, another stomping and dining ground for forever Rumsonites. The two were, of course, docked at Bahr’s. They then boated down the Shrewsbury to Sea Bright where they docked at Even Tide to enjoy some riverfront music by Dave McCarthy, the former mayor said.
Welcome back home, mayor! About that retirement? “All good so far,” Ekdahl said.
