It’s a banner summer vacation day when a Fair Haven police officer, also a Middletown fire chief, and his two children wander onto, or seek out, some Clerks III movie set action.
And it was, indeed, a banner day for Cpl. John Waltz and his two boys. The trio recently ended up in the Leonardo section of Middletown at the Quick Stop/video store and ran into original cast member, recurring in all Kevin Smith movies, Jason Mewes. Jason, a close friend of Smith’s had played Jay, the vocal half of the Jay and Silent Bob team that originated in Clerks I in 1994 and ran through all Smith’s movies, is now back, of course, for Clerks III.
“Stopped by the set of Clerks III before a dedication at Navesink FireCompany tonight (Aug. 13) and saw the wrap for the day of filming at RST/THC haha Video,” Waltz said. “Jay Mewes was nice enough to stop and take a quick photo with the boys and I. Thanks Jay.”
Now that’s some simple summer fun! Enjoy, John Waltz and family!
Now, who knows in which local newspaper, now defunct, the first story about Clerks appeared? Were the characters reading it in a scene?
