Courtside was the place to be on Feb. 4 when the Forrestdale and Holy Cross School basketball teams squared off in the RFH gym.

A good time was had by all as the boy’s and girl’s teams took to the court to raise funds for both schools in the annual event.

Holy Cross School third-grader Danny Burgess set the tone the evening with his rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner.

Then, the action on the court was spurred on by the Holy Cross School cheerleaders and the Forrestdale School Band. Tom Famulary, who has served as Interim Principal of Forrestdale School, was the evening’s emcee.

The Holy Cross boy’s team notched a win over Forrestdale School with a score of 34-32. The girl’s game ended with a Forrestdale School win and a score of 53-17.

Earning Most Valuable Player honors were: Jackson Patton and Sophia Sabino for Forrestdale; and Dane Moran and Caroline Bell for Holy Cross.

Taylor Crow of Forrestdale won the free throw contest.

“This event — and everything that goes into it — is the product of the hard work and dedication of an extremely talented group of parents, teachers, and students from both schools,” said Abby Daly of the Rumson PTO, who organized the event with Liz Hempstead of the Holy Cross School PTA.

Funds raised will be used to offset the cost per student for the upcoming Forrestdale School eighth grade trip to Washington, D.C. and also for the Holy Cross School Booster Club.
