RFH Athletic Trainer Alex Stein Names ‘Educational Services Professional of the Year’

Dubbed “a true asset and valued member of our team at RFH,” Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) Athletic Trainer Alex Stein has been named the high school’s inaugural Educational Services Professional of the Year.

Stein is known “for his compassion, professionalism, respect toward all members of our school community, and his ability to bring appropriate humor in to reduce the stress of any situation. Concerning his practice, this is not the first award for Stein as he has been recognized for his professional excellence in the past, specifically as the Athletic Trainer of the Month by Rothman Orthopedics. In addition, Mr. Stein’s contributions to the school community extend beyond the athletic training room.  He is present every night and practically every weekend supporting our students on the athletic field and court. His dedication translates into countless hours spent at RFH supporting our students, and few individuals match his level of commitment.”

Stein was recently notified of the honor as a stand-out in both the athletic trainers’ room and on the field by RFH Principal Stephen Sarles, Assistant Principal of Athletics and Activities Chris Lanzalatto and other administrators while working with students. He was selected by a small RFH group comprised of anonymous administrators, teachers, students, a Board of Education member, and parents.

In his 12th year as an RFH athletic trainer, Stein has a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from William Paterson University and a master’s in Education in Sports Medicine from the University of Virginia.

Stein works tirelessly in constant collaboration with the coaches and his supervisor, Chris Lanzalotto, to elevate the quality of treatment and injury prevention with all RFH athletes, school officials added.

In the athletic trainer room, Stein, who has developed mentor-student relationships with athletes from all teams, has created a space where they can go to seek treatments during lunch and after school.
