Our annual reprise in honor of local police during National Police Week

It’s National Police Week.

It all started back in 1962 when President John F. Kennedy designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day, which is today. The commemoration initiated the Police Unity Tour, a nationwide multi-agency memorial ride to Washington D.C. where all converge at the week’s end to honor of law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty.

They’ve arrived, after riding for those who died. And this year, National Police Week started on Sunday, May 12 and ends on Saturday, May 18.

So, the Retro Pic of the Day honors local police of the past with a look back at the Rumson boys in blue.

Today’s photo is one shared from the Rumson Police Department’s Facebook page.

We’re not sure in what year the featured photo was taken.

By the looks of the ambulance, can you guess? Recognize any of these officers?
