Retro Pic of the Day reprise of an early 80s hot summer day trip adventure, because everyone needs a little coolness in their lives right now ...
The scorching summer heat lately has made taking a flying leap into a fountain, or any body of water, a goal to which many aspire — and attain as the need to cool down beckons.
In fact, summer days, for RFHers, weren’t always all about beach clubbing it and keeping cool, fun times local.
It was sort of a rite of passage to break the beach tradition and get out of Dodge (well, Sea Bright). Many RFHers would load a crew of teens in a car at least once or twice a summer and set out to Great Adventure when the need for an adventure backdropped with different scenery arose — or there was just a hankering for hanging out by a fountain or, perhaps, catching a breeze and a thrill on a scary amusement park ride.
So, the Retro Pic of the Day, courtesy of RFH alum Marc Edelman, brings us back to those simple summer times of hanging out outside of the R-FH area comfort zone of Sea Bright where days were spent at the beach and nights at Ichabod’s or dancing at Driftwood, if you were 18 and legal …
Though, the RFH fashion trends did follow. Note the alligator shirts. And I’d bet there were some topsiders on most of those feet.
Ahhhh, summer daze out west …
Recognize anyone? Where was your favorite summer spot?
