Let’s hear it for the … RFH spirit? Something like that.
Considering the close call with Group II State Championship over the weekend for RFH Football, it seemed called for, or cheered for, to revisit a cheer of a different kind — the staged kind, courtesy of the guys.
RFHers of the 1970s had a habit of switching the usual cheer versus player roles, on the field and off. In this case, it was an onstage shout out choreographed specifically for the RFH Class of ’74 Senior Variety Show. Remember those?
Yes, back in the day, there were many shows staged in the RFH theater, or auditorium as they call it. There were Tower Players fall shows, spring musicals, freshmen and senior variety shows and, of course, concerts.
The RFH stage was a venue for both those with serious intentions of a bright lights career and fun-and-games classmates looking for a few minutes of not-so-famous fame. More like an infamous moment or a few. And, through all the show biz, there were many cheers, never jeers. Well, not unless there was an onstage spoof antics and the jeer was a joke.
This special cheer was one of those super-charged cheer moments. After all, the hearts of all these cheerleading guys were in it with gusto. Besides that, they had great gams and hair, honestly.
So, in honor of the arts, team spirit for that near football championship of the present and just plain fun times, let’s hear a cheer for these RFH boys!
Recognize them? Your favorite RFH variety show skit? Cheer?
