Well, the sun is out and it’s time to take the Halloween parading outside.
That’s exactly what RFH seniors did in 1977. Danker days kept the costumed Halloween school day assembling, parading and festivities confined to the halls and Senior Commons, but the sun always brought this ghastly gaggle of ghouls beyond the confines of RFH grounds and senior stomping grounds.
This group took it to the streets and Rumson schools, too. Nothing was stopping them, especially when that sun shone on their dark and kooky spirits.
In this Retro Pic of the Day, by, of course, George Day, a parading crew of cowboys, bikers, monsters and a pantless officer likely dressed in his dad’s vintage uniform, among other costumed critters and weirdos, were headed to the RFH halls for some improv parading — on a free period? Hmmmm …
What’s the haunting scoop at RFH these days? Any parading? Costume restrictions. None of that happened in the ’70s. All behaved as creatures of the season and dressed and paraded accordingly. Booooooo hoooooo! Who misses those days? Favorite trick? Treat?
