A reprise in honor of those eighth grade graduations … Congrats, grads!
The Fair Haven Knollwood School grads are styling every year. And, the truth is that the eighth grade graduation attire has improved to the point of even parents turning wannabes of that mini-fashion world.
You’d have to admit, though, that fad dress-up attire has been kinder to the male gender over the years — except for the leisure suit. That was an unforgiving polyester fashion fail.
And, while girls, from the dawn of time, have fallen prey to either their mother’s loving fashion misdeeds or a really bad fad, like Gunne Sax (actually owned by Jessica McClintock, go figure), gingham maxis or just plain bad frills in the wrong places and in awful colors, boys have gotten away with wearing, at worst, really bad plaid sear sucker suits and bowties.
So, in honor of bad fashion and friends forever, the Retro Pic of the Day is a look at mostly the boys of Fair Haven’s Knollwood Class of 2002. These guys are in a pretty uniform style of navy blue jackets and ties. OK, there were boutonnieres. But, this group escaped leisure suits and sear sucker by a few decades.
This was a popular spot in which to pose for such photos, as witnessed with others over the years. And, this was also one of the last graduations that actually took place at Knollwood.
Recognize anyone from this crew? How about those suits?
