Scene Around: Retired Fair Haven Teacher Trippin’

We took you back to 1974 and some Fair Haven eighth grade class tripping with popular teachers with the last Retro Pic(s) of the Day.

One of those teachers featured was Eileen Kubaitis, suited up and sun lounging with the infamous Mr. Z of classic Knollwood School days. The students and teachers were at a dude ranch — Rocking Horse Ranch, it was finally revealed, or remembered. That was a trip memory — what is actually remembered — to span generations.

And Kubaitis and other Knollwood teachers, now retired from class tripping, for sure, have taken to tripping with colleagues. Recently, in late May, four Fair Haven schools teaching retirees — Kubaitis, Betsy Koch, Marylou Madden and Bonnie Crotty, left on a jet plane for some major tripping in Amsterdam, Germany, France and Switzerland.

Judging by the photos shared, a fantastic time was had by all. The teaching moment? Cherish longtime colleagues turned the best of friends.

“What a gift these girls are to me,” Kubaitis said in a post with the photos.

Now that school’s permanently out for these ladies, tell us who your favorite was? Well, OK, we won’t put you in that position. The best lesson learned from any one of them?

Cheers to a classic teaching moment and classic teachers!
