Friday’s pounding rain and Saturday’s forecast of more wet weather has put the kibosh or at least hold on a couple of events scheduled for Fair Haven.
First, the town-wide yard sale, as planned, is still set for a rain-or-shine Saturday. Though, Councilwoman Susan Sorensen announced, permits are good for Sunday as well, so if the weather is too soggy for your taste to sell your household goods on Saturday, then Sunday is fine — or both. However, bulk drop-off will remain for extended hours at the dump from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday only.

As for the Fair Haven Fishing Derby … It has been postponed.
The “sloppy conditions of the grassy/dirt areas surrounding the pond and the potential for rain” have warranted the postponement, Sorensen said on Facebook.
The new date is next Saturday, May 13. Same time, same place. That would be 9 a.m. at McCarter Pond.
