A teen and a 20-year-old have pleaded guilty to charges stemming from a 2023 shooting that left one man dead and two others injured, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced on Tuesday.

On Friday, May 9, before the Honorable Jill G. O’Malley, J.S.C., Ziamere Ivery, 18, of Neptune Township, pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree aggravated manslaughter in connection with the July 2023 shooting.
Ivery now faces up to 18 years in a New Jersey state prison and will have to serve a minimum of 85 percent of the sentence imposed, pursuant to the provisions of the New Jersey No Early Release Act (NERA).
The other, Michael Sally, 20, of Long Branch, pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon (firearm). Sally faces up to seven years in prison with a period of 42 months parole ineligibility, in accordance with the New Jersey Graves Act.
Ivery, originally charged as a juvenile defendant, was previously waived up to adult court.
The case background …
Shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Monday, July 3, 2023, Asbury Park police were dispatched to the Asbury Park Gardens apartment complex on Atlantic Avenue on a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers found the three victims, all adult males who had sustained injuries.
The three victims were rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where two were treated for their injuries and released. The third, Lativity Lyons, 21, of Asbury Park, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 10:50 p.m. A fourth victim, the intended target of the shooting, was uninjured.
The investigation into Lyons’ death, led by members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau and the Asbury Park Police Department, resulted in the charges against Ivery and Sally.
