Prosecutor: Area Man Gets 10 Years in Prison on First-Degree Drug Dealing Conviction

An area man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison in connection with a 2021 drug dealing bust, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Herbert Standard, 43, of Eatontown, was sentenced to the 10 years in a New Jersey state prison on a conviction on the charge of first-degree possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute an amount in excess of 5 ounces.

Standard entered a guilty plea on Aug. 1, 2022.

The case background …

On March 24, 2021, police from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Narcotics Strike Force, Keansburg Police Department, Eatontown Police Department, Oceanport Police Department, and the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department executed search warrants at the Crystal Inn in Eatontown and a residence in Oceanport after conducting a three-month long investigation. 

Upon executing the warrants, police seized more than 300 grams of cocaine, more than an ounce of fentanyl, and more than 6 ounces of marijuana.

This case was handled by Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutor Emily Cartmell. Standard is being represented by Mitchell J. Ansell of Ocean, New Jersey.
